Abstract

This study intends to improve the learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education with the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning method. The data and subjects of this study were taken from 33 students of class XI IPS 3 at SMA Negeri 8 Bekasi using observation, test, and documentation techniques. The application of the learning method is carried out in 3 cycles. The results of this study prove that the PAI learning outcomes of class XI IPS 3 students of SMAN 8 Bekasi by applying the TGT learning model get an increase. This can be observed in the results of the initial test that was applied before the pre-CAR cycle 1 action, the successful achievement of the KKM score of 75 was obtained for 13 students (40%) with an average score of 67.4. During the first cycle of action, as many as 18 students (54%) with an average score of 73.78 were able to achieve the KKM score. However, the success indicator of the score of 85 has not been achieved by the students, so the researchers continued with cycle 2. In cycle 2, the student learning outcomes increased to 27 students (81%) with an average score of 79.27. In the last 3 cycles, students achieved a minimum standard score when they increased to 33 people or 100% with an average score of 86.69. Through the results of this study, it can be stated that the TGT learning model can improve PAI learning outcomes for students of class XI IPS 4 SMAN 8 BekasiKeywords: Learning Model, Islamic Religious Education, Learning Outcome

Abstract

Mathematics learning is a teaching and learning process built by teachers to develop students' creative thinking that can improve students' thinking skills, and can construct new knowledge as an effort to improve good mastery of mathematical material, especially around circles. The purpose of this research is how the knowledge of class VIII SMP Negeri Tamalabang on the value of phi (π) and the ability to understand and solve problems related to determining the circumference of a circle. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The form of descriptive research used is case research. The results showed that students' understanding in finding the value of phi and the formula for the circumference of a circle developed well from the comparison of pree test and post test. This learning design makes students look more active and begins to show the ability to express opinions even though the result is that there is a development in students' understanding. The average pree test and post test scores of 21 class VIII students of SMP Negeri Tamalabang were 55.05 for the average pree test and 84.76 for the pree test. This indicates that there is a well-developed understanding of the eighth grade students. In other words, many students understand the concept of the circumference of a circle or there is an increase in students' understanding in solving problems related to the circumference of a circle. There needs to be motivation that stimulates students to continue to study hard, especially in the field of mathematics.

Abstract

Abstract:Guided inquiry learning encourages students to be more active in  learning so  that  students'  scientific literacy skills  can  be developed. Solving problems through investigative activities is one of the elements of contextual learning. Contextual learning by solving everyday problems is one aspect of the description of science literacy competencies. The investigation component in guided inquiry is expected to improve students' science literacy. This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry learning model on science literacy skills of 4th grade students of SDN Dukuharum Jombang. The population in this study were all 4th grade students of SDN Dukuharum Jombang in semester 1 of the 2022/2023 academic year, while the samples used were classes 4A and 4B. The experimental class and control class each consisted of 20 students. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental research method with a research design of nonequivalent pretest posttest pretest- posttest control group design.  The results of this study indicate that guided inquiry has a significant effect on science literacy skills.

Abstract

Utilization of the local cultural context in learning is one form of effort to optimize learning outcomes. Cultural context can be related to the content of lessons in schools such as mathematics (ethnomathematics) and science (ethnoscience). Ethnomathematics and ethnoscience, or what is later called ethnomathscience, is an approach to learning mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology related to culture. Incorporating the potential of coastal tourism which is studied from an ethnomathscience point of view is very important in learning in order to prepare and shape the character of students who are always superior and ready to face the challenges of the times, but do not forget their ancestral heritage and are able to preserve both nature and culture. This study uses a mixed method that focuses on collecting, analyzing, and mixing qualitative and quantitative data in a single study. This research was conducted on the Madura Coast, especially in Pamekasan Regency. The research subjects were Pamekasan coastal communities, teachers, and students of Tanjung 3 Pamekasan Elementary School. The results of the study show that the Madura coast has the potential to be used as content in elementary school learning. Both teachers and students already understand the potential of the coast so that it can become the basis for contextual learning that promotes the culture of the local community. Mathematics and science content in elementary schools can be integrated with coastal culture.

Abstract

This study evaluates the school’s policies to implement literacy education at an elementary school during the disruptive moment of global pandemic of covid-19 and social disparity of underprivileged community. Since the global pandemic has hit Indonesia in 2020, it had major impacts on the teaching and learning process across the country, causing some disruption of the educational strategies by the school principals. The purpose of this study is to analyze the policies implemented by the school management in implementing the culture of literacy and numeracy especially during the pandemic. This ethnographic study included one private community-based elementary school in a slump area. The results of this study are that the school had specific policies in order to accommodate the literacy and numeracy practice during the pandemic according to the condition of the community but with least coommunity participation. The policies at the elementary schools dominantly focus on numeracy in the learning process instead of encouraging the literacy practice. The implementation of literacy education at an elementary school in the slump area should have required community participation in order to revitalize its social position to empower the community.

Abstract

Reading fluency is an essential skill for academic achievement. Fluent readers are able to swiftly and accurately comprehend written information, allowing them to focus on the meaning and implications of what they are reading. This paper investigates the relationship between reading fluency and academic outcomes, including reading comprehension, writing and vocabulary. The study seeks to examine the nature of this relationship, how reading fluency influences specific areas of academic achievements, and whether individual differences, such as age or reading aptitude, moderate this relationship. Fifteen students from the fourth semester of the English Department at Universitas Nusa Cendana were recruited for this study, and a longitudinal design was used to investigate the relationship between reading fluency and academic achievement. The results indicate that reading fluency is positively related to reading comprehension, writing and vocabulary knowledge. Individual differences in age and reading aptitude also appear to mitigate the relationship between reading fluency and academic achievement.
